This is a piece made with the entire orchestra. It’s Epic, it’s a finale. I’m going to make some kind of video with it :) I finally learned how to use convolution reverb to place my instruments in the space. Convolution reverb is amazing! basically what these guys did is played a sin wave in the best orchestral stages in the world and then canceled the wave out digitally leaving an algorithm of the space so that you can have your orchestra “inside” the space. Add to this the fact that the samples I use are recorded in their proper stage positions and viola! I have my sampled orchesta that sounds as real as technology can make it. The next thing I learned that I love using here is divisi in the strings. I have my rhythmic motif being played in 16ths in the Violins and Violas and 8ths in the Celli and Basses. The Melody, which is intentionally lower in the mix is played by the French Horn section and then joined in the climax by the trumpet section. Since the high strings are playing so fast I avoided using percussive rhythms to avoid over filling the space and instead accentuate key portions with Timpani, Cymbals and a Wagner Bass Drum. Woodwinds are also used to accentuate the feeling of the piece. This was actually really difficult to pull off because of all the complex midi programming involved and all the automation to get the instruments to behave properly in their parameter changes.
It’s been too long friends! It’s been a really long time since I posted anything new but I’ve been busy with the motions of life. Anyways, I’ve been taking a tango class now that I live in New York and I decided to study up on tango music and I gave it my first shot today. Turns out tango is easy music to write and is a lot of fun and you can do just about anything with it that you want to. I love the dance now I love the music. Tell me what you think! This is my arrangement so far of the main theme from Metal Gear Solid 2, I’m trying to get my stuff going on ocremix.org. ocremix.org is a website that has composers and arrangers take music from video games and bring them to life in their own arrangements. It’s pretty tough to get a piece on the site, I submitted a piece over a year ago and was rejected outright. I like to arrange something every now and then so that I can hone the skills of an arranger and bring fresh insight into my own compositions. Anyways, this isn’t finished yet but I wanted to post it and get some feedback before I submit this.

I had these 5 awesome vocal samples that were cool and I thought, “Hey, what if I tried to make these notes work together in a song?” so instead of warping the pitch of these samples I simply threw them together with some chord progressions and added an organ and some synth work. I plan on doing more with this kind of thing in the future, and even though this one could use more work I have other projects that are much better that I would rather spend my time on. So I hope you enjoy this little fusion of mine.

Eu tinha esses 5 awesome amostras vocais que eram legais e eu pensei: “Ei, o que se eu tentasse fazer estas notas trabalhar juntos em uma canção?” Então, ao invés de entortar o tom destas amostras eu simplesmente joguei junto com algumas progressões de acordes e acrescentou um órgão e alguns trabalhos de synth. Estou pensando em fazer mais com esse tipo de coisa no futuro, e mesmo que este poderia usar mais trabalho, tenho outros projetos que são muito melhores que eu prefiro gastar meu tempo. I’m posting this piece of crap to let everyone know that there is a learning curb for everything. I’ve now been composing for three years and I’m just barely starting to learn about electronic and dance music. There is a huge learning curb for music like this, and contrary to what people may believe this stuff is actually hard to get the hang of, every effect and morphing of the sound has a name and a genre of origin, and artist who uses it as his/her trademark sound and so on. My goal is to not only get better at Orchestral and Ethnic styles of music, but also learn as much about these kinds of music too. So I hope that in the future I can create some absolutely insane electronic stuff, right now my goal is just to make sure that my next piece doesn’t sound so much like you are playing Sonic The Hedgehog. Eu estou postando este pedaço de merda que todos saibam que existe um freio de aprendizagem para tudo. Já foram compor de três anos e eu sou apenas mal começam a aprender sobre música eletrônica e dance. What I Wished I’d Known Before I started Composing
This post is the first of a series of posts that deal with how anyone anywhere can start making music. In this post I want to cover a couple of basic things that I have learned that will make your life writing songs much much easier.
1. Unless you are going to school specifically for composition, film scoring, audio mastering or something similar (most composers don’t since the majority of composers are hobbyists with other concerns in their lives…like me) the majority of what you learn in a music program outside of music theory is going to be out-of-date material that no longer applies to the work and process of a composer. rarely will you be introduced to computer tools other than notation software.
2. It takes a long time (but not too long) to build the skill of composing but know that anyone can do it. Did you hear me? ANYONE can be a composer and a damned good one too. which means…
3. Composers aren’t magical people who somehow channel divine inspiration through their music. Music has rules, and though there are infinite ways to apply them, the greatest music has always been made by the people who understand the rules the best. In some ways the rules are music theory, but the majority of the rules are defined by taste. More on this later.
4. You will never be satisfied. No matter how far you’ve come you will never think that your music is perfect, that nothing can be added or taken away. You will always be experimenting and you’ll use a lot of the same ideas over and over again. This is good, it means you are mastering something. You will reach a point where what you’ve written all sounds good, and many will sound amazing, but you will always grow bored of it and make another.
5. When you finally learn what tools you need to make what you want to make it is going to seem like a lot of money, just use the basic principals of saving and goal setting and before you know you’ll have what you need and always be able to get what you want.
6. Everything is hard at first. Your first breath was hard, your first step took lots of practice and learning to use the tools to make music is going to be hard too…for about a month. But remember that once you pass that threshold you are going to get really good at it really fast. Progress is almost always exponential.

I really like strings, and the more I learn about them and how to use them the more in love with them I become. I know this song is short but it’s to the emotional point and it’s actually just beautiful. I love it when I sit down to write, I never know what I’m going to write; I’m not one of those people who get and idea and then go write it. I work by putting down a couple of notes or a chord and then building the song from there.

This is the latest in my experimentation with string work, and a little bit of experimentation with brass harmony relationships. Though I think the ending is a little disappointing and the song is short it’s still everything I wanted it to be and a little more. I’m learning more and more about EQ and compression but I’m still far from mastering mastering. I hope you like it.

Life has settled into a monotonous three months of boredom. To shake things up I decided to go back and write a more upbeat track and focus a lot on the percussion. At this point this is probably my favorite thing I’ve ever written (hurray, almost 2 years of being able to read and write music!) and I hope it only stays that way for a couple of days :) I decided to build this in four section, though an odd number usually makes for more interesting contour I thought in this case that 4 was what I needed. I wanted to put poly-rhythms in the percussion solo but it just wasn’t working. There is a small double reed part and the brass is an incomplete section. I love it and I hope you will too. If you listen to it with headphones you’ll really hear the percussion FX I implemented, especially at the end with this drum hit I morphed to shake the foundations of the world :)

Life hat sich zu einem monotonen drei Monaten der Langeweile erledigt. E espero que ela só fica desse jeito por um par de dias:) eu decidi construir este em quatro secções, embora um número ímpar normalmente faz para dar contorno mais interessantes que eu pensei que neste caso 4 foi o que eu precisava. Eu queria colocar poli ritmos de percussão no solo, mas simplesmente não estava funcionando. Há uma parte pequena palheta dupla eo bronze é uma secção incompleta. Eu amo ele e eu espero que você também. Se você ouvir com fones de ouvido você realmente ouvir a percussão FX eu implementados, especialmente no final com esse tambor hit I transformou a sacudir as fundações do mundo:)

I guess I seem to make every track for fun, but this one was actually fun for me. Though the orchestration is a little thin I still like the big drama of it all.
